After spending the last 3 hours trying to figure out which chipset the Rosewill RC-401 PCI-E Gigabit NIC uses, searching google.com and the manufacturer's website, eventually finding a link on the newegg.com site, downloading the new driver, trying to compile it, then finding out that I have to recompile my kernel, failing to compile a module 5 times, patching a module 2 times, finally getting the new module to compile, spending another 45 minutes realizing that I need to type "insmod" instead of "modprobe", 2 reboots, 1 new shorewall install, 6 configuration file changes (about 10 times), ohh yea, and about 15 new firewall rules....
Just another day in the life of a geek!
